Rasmus Hojlund says he ‘fell in love with football’ because of former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Red Devils’ young striker went 21 games without a goal in all competitions before ending his frustrating dry spell against Leicester City on Sunday.

Hojlund put Man Utd ahead in the 28th minute, latching onto a pass from Bruno Fernandes before slotting a right-footed finish into the far corner.

Alejandro Garnacho doubled their lead on 67 minutes before Fernandes wrapped up a comfortable 3-0 victory with a late third.

Hojlund, as well as other United players, have now headed off on international duty.

The Dane has failed to live up to his hefty price tag. He has shown glimpses of his quality but has struggled to find a consistent run of form.

Hojlund has scored only 24 goals and four assists in 82 appearances across all competitions..

His struggles in his debut campaign were understandable, as he left Atalanta to play in the toughest league in the world.

However, Hojlund should have been scoring goals consistently this season and has failed.

United fans will hope his quality in front of goal improves during the final few weeks of the season.
