Sander Berge was fantastic in his one season at Turf Moor, but how much money did he scoop across the season?

It would be incredibly harsh to refer to Sander Berge as a one-season wonder at Burnley, although in effect that's exactly what he was, as he departed Turf Moor after just a solitary season.

Burnley's relegation out of the Premier League certainly played its part in that, as Berge departed for Fulham over the summer, but he was one of few players within the squad who was able to depart with their head held high, knowing he couldn't have done much more to prevent relegation.

Vincent Kompany spent a raft of money in the summer of 2023 to try and give the Clarets a fighting chance of staying in the top flight, with Berge one of his bigger money signings, but his approach ultimately failed spectacularly and sales were always inevitable.

The Norwegian would certainly have been someone fans would've wanted to be one of the last players sold, but he was actually one of the earlier movers, leaving for Craven Cottage in a £25m deal.

Here, we take a look at how much he is estimated to have earned over the duration of his Burnley deal.

Sander Berge was estimated to be one of Burnley's biggest earners last season

Considering Burnley recruited almost a new squad worth of players in the summer of 2023, Berge came in as the estimated top earner of all those who made the summer switch to Turf Moor.

Capology estimate he was scooping £40,000 per week at Turf Moor, although that wasn't actually the biggest wage in the squad, with two others - Josh Brownhill and Jack Cork - estimated to be raking in £45,000 per week.

Berge stayed at Turf Moor for a little over a year - one year and two weeks, give or take - so over the duration of his time with Burnley (54 weeks), Capology estimate he earned a whopping £2.16m in wages.

Naturally, that doesn't account for bonuses like signing-on fee, appearance bonuses, goal bonuses etc, so the actual figure he earned was probably much higher than that if Capology's estimates are to be believed.

He won't have received too many goal bonuses as he only scored once across the whole league campaign and that was coincidentally against Fulham in a display which some argue was enough to persuade Marco Silva to make the summer move.

Capology estimate that Berge is now scooping £55,000 per week with Fulham, which represents almost a 50% wage rise from his time with Burnley, but with the Cottagers established in the Premier League and hailing from London, that's no great surprise.

The Norwegian midfielder signed a five-year deal at Craven Cottage, which over the course of his entire contract could land him over £14m without including any bonuses.

Berge has become a fixture in Silva's team, and has worked himself up the ranks to become one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Although his estimated £55,000 per week wages may seem like a lot, he's actually only the 11th-biggest earner at Fulham, but if he continues his upward trajectory, a new deal certainly isn't out of the question.
