FC Barcelona advanced to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League after beating Borussia Dortmund 5-3 in the quarter-final stage and thus took another step towards the achievement of their goals this season.
However, the upcoming matches are all going to be important for the Blaugranes, as Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are still in their pursuit on the league table. Meanwhile, they are also going to play the Copa del Rey final against the Merengues at the end of this month, and a crunch UCL semi-final tie against Inter Milan also awaits them.
Unfortunately, Hansi Flick will be without one of his key players, Alejandro Balde, for some of the upcoming matches, as he suffered a hamstring injury while playing against Leganes last week.
Diario AS has provided an update on his situation and claims that the defender’s participation in the Copa final is completely ruled out. The player is now aiming to return in time for the first leg of the UCL semi-final tie against Inter Milan on April 30th.
The minimum time that the fullback had to spend on the sidelines for an injury of this nature was three weeks, so his participation in the final against Real Madrid was already quite impossible. But these three weeks would also not have been completed by the time the first leg against Inter Milan at the Montjuic comes.
Still, Barcelona do not want to rule out his availability for that game, as they understand Balde will do everything to return for such an important match. However, his participation in this first leg will also depend on his final condition at the time, as he already has a history of injuries in that area, and there is also an increased risk of a relapse for a player as explosive and powerful as him.
Hopefully, the Spaniard will be able to recover in time for that game. But even if he is unable to do so, Hansi Flick will have him back for the second leg, set to take place a week later, fully fit.
