Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi isn’t interested in predicting the Serie A title race with Napoli after his team’s disastrous loss to Fiorentina.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the 3-0 defeat at the hands of La Viola. He stressed that there is still a long way to go this season.
Inter had the chance to draw level on points with Napoli in the Serie A table this evening.
After more than two months of waiting, the Nerazzurri finally played their game in hand against Fiorentina.
However, Inter suffered their heaviest defeat of the season.
Up against a Fiorentina team who were dealing with an injury crisis, the Nerazzurri seemed to feel the spectre of the asterisk hanging over them.
Therefore, Inter are now behind in the Serie A title race.
The Nerazzurri are still just three points back. But there is no opportunity to make those points up.
Inter’s fate is still in their own hands if they can beat Napoli in the head-to-head meeting next month. But the margins are now razor thin as far as catching up at the top.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi made clear that at this stage, he’s not focusing on the Serie A title race despite the damaging loss today.
“There are still fifteen matches to go,” emphasized the Nerazzurri coach.

“Right now, it’s not the time to make predictions as far as the table.”
“It will be important for us to analyze this loss clearly,” added Inzaghi. “And understand why our performance was so lacking.”
Meanwhile, Simone Inzaghi gave his thoughts on why midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has not looked at his best since returning from injury.
“Clearly we know how important Hakan is for us,” he said. “But I’m not going to talk about individuals in a match that was negative for everyone.”
Inzaghi said that Calhanoglu is “doing well in training.”
“He’ll improve as with everyone else.”
Of the loss to Fiorentina, the Inter coach admitted that “Fiorentina believed more than us.”
“Technically, we had to be quicker.”
“We needed to be more careful,” Inzaghi continued. “There were already signs of it in the first half.
“And then despite that, we did even worse in the second half. So now we have to work and analyze what happen, it’s a loss that comes as a big setback.”
Meanwhile, Inzaghi also commented that “At the moment we’ve gotten some players back in defense and midfield.”
“I’ll need everyone available,” the Nerazzurri coach went on.
“The fixture list is very packed We know that.”
“We have the match on Monday,” Inzaghi noted. Inter face Fiorentina again in just a few days’ time, this time at the San Siro.
“Then on Sunday we face Juve. It’s a tough schedule for us, and we have to face it at our best.”
