The long-range goal that Federico Dimarco scored for Inter Milan against Frosinone has earned a nomination for the FIFA Puskas Award.

FIFA announce the eleven goals up for the award, via FCInterNews. The Nerazzurri wingback’s goal is among them.

Dimarco is not exactly Inter’s most regular goalscorer. But he does chip in here and there.

The 27-year-old also has a penchant for scoring very impressive goals when he does find the back of the net.

This is partly a reflection of the fact that, as a wingback, Dimarco often shoots from long-range positions when he does take aim at goal.

And the Italian international is undoubtedly a hugely technically gifted player. And that is often on show when he scores.

Federico Dimarco Goal For Inter Vs Frosinone Nominated For FIFA Puskas Award

Dimarco’s most memorable goal to date in an Inter shirt cam against Frosinone last season.

That was not just a long-range effort. Dimarco had barely advanced beyond the halfway line when he took his shot.

Dimarco lofted the ball, and it sailed over the head of Frosinone goalkeeper Stefano Turati.

A comparison could be made to the goal that Alessandro Florenzi scored for Roma against Barcelona in the Champions League a few seasons ago.

There was some doubt about whether Dimarco had even intended his goal. Or if he had meant to cross the ball.

But the accuracy of the shot suggests that Dimarco knew what he was doing.
