Legednary former Nerazzurri captain Beppe Bergomi feels that Lautaro Martinez is “carrying the Inter Milan attack on his back.”
Bergomi gave his thoughts on Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez has been omnipresent in the Nerazzurri starting eleven in recent weeks.
And to some extent, the 27-year-old has had to be.
Striker Marcus Thuram has been suffering from an ankle problem that he picked up during a Serie A clash with Fiorentina.
Then, the likes of Joaquin Correa, Marko Arnautovic, and Mehdi Taremi have all played a role.
But it has been Martinez who has started every match for Inter in their recent run.
It was Lautaro Martinez who popped up with the decisive goal in Saturday’s Serie A victory over Genoa. That is certainly not the first time that the Argentine has done so in the last few years.
Former Inter captain Beppe Bergomi gave his thoughts on that win over Genoa. “It was a difficult match,” he said.

“Inter won a match against one of the teams that have really stopped them from playing their game in possession.”
“In the 37 matches that they’ve played this season, Inter have only really suffered like that against Arsenal and Genoa,” Bergomi argued.
“In the end they managed to win from a set piece.”
Bergomi said that “The loss to Juventus can hurt a lot.”
“At the moment Inter are struggling when Thuram is out. All the weight of the attack is on the back of Lautaro.”
Bergomgi then commented that against Genoa, “Inter won a math taking risks.”
“Then there was also the episode with Acerbi. Genoa had their chances.”
“It was a heavy win. Lautaro was carrying a lot with him, and that’s also why he celebrated the way he did at the end of the match.”
