Inter Milan Will Rival AC Milan For Torino & Italy Star Despite Croatia International’s Arrival | OneFootball

Inter Milan will go head-to-head with city rivals AC Milan to sign Samuele Ricci this summer despite the arrival of Petar Sucic.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They note that the 23-year-old would only come in if Kristjan Asllani departs, however.

Torino and Italy midfielder Samuele Ricci has emerged as a major target for both Inter and Milan.

It is not particularly hard to see why.

Ricci has been a key player in midfield for Torino over the last couple seasons. His combination of physicality with technical polish is at the heart of the Granata team under Paolo Vanoli.

Meanwhile, Ricci has shown real versatility.

The Italian international can play either as a holding midfielder or in more of a box-to-box role.

In the meantime, however, Inter have also made another big midfield signing.

Petar Sucic will be part of the Nerazzurri squad after next summer.

Like Ricci, Sucic is a young midfielder with a good combination of physical and technical qualities. He has shown himself well-rounded enough to play in different midfield roles.

According to the Corriere, Sucic is likely to effectively take the place of Davide Frattesi at Inter next season.

Frattesi remained at Inter in January despite transfer rumours. But that has only delayed the inevitable as far as the former Sassuolo midfielder heading for the exit door.

As such, there could still be room in Inter’s squad for Ricci.

But that would be dependent on another midfielder leaving.

According to the Corriere, Kristjan Asllani would also have to depart to make room for a move for Ricci.
