Simone Inzaghi feels that Inter Milan did what they needed to in yesterday’s 1-0 Serie A victory over Genoa.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to InterTV after the match, via FCInterNews.
It never seemed as though Genoa would make it easy for Inter Milan yesterday.
The Grifone had already managed a draw against the Nerazzurri. The two teams drew 2-2 in Liguria in their first match of the season.
Moreover, Genoa had also managed a draw by the same scoreline against Inter last season. They had been one of relatively few teams to take points off of Inter.
Therefore, the Nerazzurri will have expected a tough outing yesterday.
And so it proved for Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri certainly were not able to play free-flowing attacking football or rack up a blowout scoreline.
However, Inter did get the three points that they needed to to keep the pressure on Napoli heading into next weekend’s top-of-the-table clash.

A clean sheet at one end of the pitch and a Lautaro Martinez header from a corner proved to be enough.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi said that “We approached the match well.”
“Then in the first part of the first half, Genoa pressed higher.”
“We know that they play great football. But we also knew that in the second half we’d have more space.”
“To win titles, to fight to the end, sometimes you need to take three points this way,” Inzaghi insisted.
“It was a tricky match. But we knew that it would be.”
The Inter coach then said that “We have to keep going like this.”
“I’m also happy for our fans,” added Inzaghi. “They pushed us on tonight, they helped us a lot, but that’s nothing new.”
“From the moment we arrived at the stadium they gave us the best welcome possible.”
