Mehdi Taremi was “ice cold” in Inter Milan’s Serie A win over Lecce yesterday, while Davide Frattesi was “ravenous.”

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

It has taken until the end of January, but Mehdi Taremi has finally scored his first Serie A goal.

The Iranian international joined Inter from Porto last summer. He came in to bolster the attacking depth.

There have been many positive aspects to Taremi’s performances in an Inter shirt to date. He has gotten up to speed quickly in terms of his holdup play.

But for a striker, the lack of a goal has been worrying.

Mehdi Taremi “Ice Cold” Vs Lecce – Frattesi “Ravenous”

It was not too surprising that it was Mehdi Taremi who stepped up to take a penalty in the second half of yesterday’s match against Lecce, therefore.

The 32-year-old had come on as a substitute shortly before Davide Frattesi had won the spot kick.

Taremi is a player with a very positive record from the spot for club and country.

And the Iranian international’s teammates evidently recognized a golden chance for him to finally score a Serie A goal.

The pressure was clearly very significant. Even if the goal was hardly necessary for the result, it was very important for Taremi personally.

But the 32-year-old showed no signs of that. His effort could hardly have been better, as he was “ice cold” up against Lecce keeper Wladimiro Falcone.

Meanwhile, the Corriere praise midfielder Davide Frattesi for his “ravenous” display.
