Bromley, meanwhile, managed to achieve a marvellous feat and set up a match against Newcastle. This is the first time in their history that they’ve reached the third round of the competition having won a seven-goal thriller at non-league Rochdale in early November before edging past Solihull Moors in the West Midlands.

Newcastle United are expected to make a whole heap of changes after their victory over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg on Tuesday. Alexander Isak suffered a slight hamstring twinge in that game so is expected to sit out and fellow forward Callum Wilson continues to recover from his own hamstring injury so won’t be ready for this game.

Also absent will be defender Jamaal Lascelles and goalkeeper Nick Pope meaning Martin Dubravka may start again unless Eddie Howe wants to rest his current No.1.

For Bromley, Callum Reynolds is likely to drop out of the XI and 37-year-old Byron Webster could feature to bring a bit more experience to the team at St James’ Park. Kamarl Grant is unavailable through suspension.
