‘Is open to’: German football expert drops ‘concrete’ update on ‘world-class’ Bayern star wanted by United

Among Manchester United’s lengthy shortlist of potential Luke Shaw successors is one of Europe’s best: Alphonso Davies.

Numerous top clubs have been alerted to the ‘world-class’ Canadian’s situation due to his contract expiring with Bayern Munich in the summer of 2025. Signing a player of his calibre for nothing would come as a tremendous coup for any side – except the Germans, who will be losing one of their most instrumental and reliable performers.

Joining United in the race are Real Madrid and Barcelona, with the latter’s interest being spearheaded by Hansi Flick’s desire to reunite with his former protegee. Madird first established their interest well over a year ago but opted against making a formal approach due to his deal coming to an end.

A surprise name to have recently thrown their name into the mix is Liverpool. Like United, they’re on the hunt for a proven, younger left-back option as they plan for life without the ageing Andy Robertson.

What one transfer expert is now hearing about Davies’ future

Bundesliga expert Christian Falk provided some welcome insight into the Davies speculation that’s doing the rounds at the moment while also detailing his current stance over a potential Bayern extension.

“True: Alphonso Davies is open to a potential transfer away from Bayern Munich,” he told CaughtOffside via his exclusive Fact Files column.

“He’s not 100% fixed on Manchester United or Real Madrid. I heard that talks with Bayern, at the moment, are on ice until January.

“His agent, Nick Huoseh, will talk with any interested top club in the new year. When Huoseh is on his tour of England, Liverpool could get a meeting with him. It would be a good club for Davies, of course, given they play a style of football that would suit him. Liverpool, naturally, have a chance.

“I think Manchester United and Real Madrid are more concrete by comparison at this point in time. Bayern are also applying pressure to sign him up to a new contract. They’re still hopeful about making this work. So, Liverpool are still in the race, if they want him.”
