The Italian FA have begun their investigation into Inter and AC Milan ultras, with Hakan Calhanoglu facing a potential suspension.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that both Calhanoglu and AC Milan captain Davide Calabria risk 2-3 match suspensions.
The investigation into alleged criminal activities by Inter and Milan ultras has been ongoing for weeks.
This concerns allegations of illegal activities and mafia ties by Curva Nord and Curva Sud leaders. There were several arrests last month.
And the investigation has also touched on players and staff at both Inter and Milan.
Now, the Italian FA has all the evidence and is beginning their own investigation.
According to Tuttosport, the Inter player who risks the most in the investigation is midfielder Calhanoglu.
The 30-year-old admitted to having had contacts with Marco Ferdico, a leader of Inter ultras group the Curva Nord.
Therefore, there is a risk of a suspension of two or three matches for Calhanoglu.
The same is true of Milan captain Calabria for his contacts with Rossoneri ultras the Curva Sud.
Meanwhile, there is some ambiguity around possible punishments for Inter coach Simone Inzaghi and Vice-President Javier zanetti over their contacts with the ultras.
And Inter and Milan will likely receive small fines, reports Tuttosport.
