Some great comments from Anthony Gordon.
The Newcastle United star now reacting to the nonsense that flows non-stop from the media.
Anthony Gordon declaring that ‘It’s a load of rubbish really’ when journalists, pundits, whoever, claim that the best players will be leaving Newcastle United.
The England international now five direct goal involvements in his last six Newcastle appearances, two goals and three assists.
Obviously, Anthony Gordon hitting form at the same time Newcastle United are as a team, is no coincidence.
With Tonali and our two Brazilians working so well together in midfield, if you add the attacking quality of Isak and Gordon, as well as Murphy in a purple patch, that is proving a formidable challenge for opposition sides.
Anthony Gordon speaking as Newcastle United look to make it five wins in a row, playing away at Man U, the winger asked about giving guarantees to fans that he will be staying at NUFC:
“My performances are going to say that the best.
“You see the way I run, the way I work hard for the team, that is going to say a lot more than me telling you anything.
“I’ve got a long contract here and I intend to see that out.
“I have got no plans of leaving.
“I am here to win a trophy.
“I have got a lot of goals ahead of me before I think about anything else.
“The ‘project’ doesn’t really mean much to us, we all want to win now, people keep talking about the ‘project’ from the outside because of how much the club has come on, but that doesn’t really mean much to us.
“We are trying to win now.
“We are trying to win cups now.
“We are trying to get back into the Champions League and if we do that, then it will no longer be called ‘a project’ will it, because it will be what we want it to be.
“Because the club has transitioned so quickly, other fans and other media outlets just pick out the players, when we play well it is like ‘He’s got to move from Newcastle’, but that’s not the reality.
“We are fifth in the table, we are a top club ourselves. It’s a load of rubbish really.
“My individual form, as I said at the start of the season, I started quite slow.
“It doesn’t matter, no one remembers the start of the season, all people remember is how you finish.
“We are warming up and we are getting into a good vein of form at the right time, the league starts shaping towards the end of the Christmas period.
