Juventus are advancing in their pursuit of Milan Skriniar, who, despite a bevy of rumors, has always been at the forefront of their search for a new defender since Gleison Bremer went down with a serious knee injury. The Bianconeri have struck a verbal agreement with the former Inter stalwart, Foot Mercato informs (via Goal).
The Old Lady will now start negotiating with PSG. Even though the Slovak isn’t a regular and joined on a Bosman move, the French side demands a significant sum to part ways with him. They’d rather sell him outright than loan him out.
Juventus will seek to limit the investment to bring in Skriniar and try to insert some makeweights. Recent reports about Nicolò Fagioli being headed to the French capital have been rubbished. The Bianconeri are thin in multiple roles given their injury woes.
The veteran has collected just five appearances this season but has started and finished the past two Ligue 1 matches. The Old Lady prefers to onboard a center-back already familiar with Serie A so he wouldn’t need to adjust too much.
They obviously need another man as they are one physical problem away from disaster, but Federico Gatti and Pierre Kalulu have proven to be a dependable pairing. Their numbers have improved tremendously with them over Danilo in the XI. Somebody younger, more energetic, and more versatile would be better, but they can’t be too picky. Other than perhaps Samuel Mbangula, they don’t have players they can give away willy-nilly.
