Karim Adeyemi almost left Borussia Dortmund for Napoli in January, but the German attacker is integral to Niko Kovač’s plans which has seen the 23-year-old start in each game since the coach’s arrival at Signal Iduna Park.
Speaking ahead of Dortmund’s UEFA Champions League tie against Lille, Adeyemi was asked on his development. “When you have the coach’s trust, it comes naturally,” he said. “I am very grateful for that. I can definitely be even more dangerous, and I want to show that.”
Adeyemi comes into this game having scored against St. Pauli in the Bundesliga at the weekend, his second goal in six games under Kovač.
After a near departure from Dortmund in the winter, his move away from the club in the winter was pushed by the player’s former agent Ali Barat. Adeyemi has since joined Roof agency and will be represented by Giuseppe Pisano and Andreas Ottl.
Christian Falk reports that Adeyemi feels comfortable in Dortmund and with a contract until 2027, a stay beyond the summer is entirely possible. But if Borussia Dortmund miss out on the Champions League, then that could change.
