Kevin De Bruyne reveals team-mates 'sad' at Man City contract decision after match-winning display

De Bruyne scored the only goal of the match in his penultimate home game as a Man City player
Kevin De Bruyne insisted he is still good enough to play in the Premier, as he revealed his Manchester City team-mates are disappointed that he is leaving.
The Belgian will leave City in the summer when his contract expires after 11 years at the club, but said last month that he had been left surprised by there being no offer for him to extend.
It means the final weeks of the season will be his last as a City player and he is still having a key impact, scoring the only goal in his side’s 1-0 win over Wolves on Friday night.
Speaking after the match, De Bruyne hinted again that he felt he deserved an offer to stay at City, an opinion seemingly shared by other players.
“I showed I can still play here (in the Premier League) otherwise I don’t do what I have done in these last four or five weeks,” De Bruyne.
“Obviously I know I’ve got one game left here (at the Etihad) but I just try to do my job like I’ve always done and I did that today, so I am proud of what I am doing. I give everything and I want to win the game.”
He added: “A lot of team-mates have spoken to me and I think they are also sad that I have to go but sometimes it goes like this.”
Since the news of his departure was announced De Bruyne has put in some eye-catching performances, and did so again to settle a tight contest against in-form Wolves, who hit the post through both Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri.
Only the fixture against Bournemouth on May 20 remains for De Bruyne in terms of home fixtures, but he was able to celebrate with fans at the end.
"(It's) really good," Pep Guardiola said. "Against Crystal Palace at 2-0 down his goal gave us the momentum to come back. I'm sure it's not easy for him but his contribution has been massive, important."
Asked if De Bruyne is irreplaceable, the City boss added: "There are players like Sergio (Aguero), like Kevin, like Vinny (Vincent Kompany) who are in the heart of the people.
"Not just titles and numbers, contributions in terms of affection and love and passion for all of us one decade here, helping us to win absolutely everything. And still is here.
"He doesn't have to prove anything, I know his quality and his level. That's all."
Victory was City's fifth in a row in all competitions - fourth in the league - and moves them up to third, four points clear of Nottingham Forest in the battle for a top-five slot. They are only three points behind second-placed Arsenal, who have a game in hand but must yet travel to Anfield.
However, Guardiola insisted the Gunners are not in his sights.
"That is not the target," he said. "(The target) is to qualify for the Champions League, and the FA Cup final."
