Legendary former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi feels Inter Milan are capable of making a deep run in the Champions League this season.
The former coach spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInter1908.
Inter beat RB Leipzig in the Champions League. That was their fourth straight win in the competition.
Moreover, Inter have yet to either taste defeat or concede a goal in the competition.
That leaves the Nerazzurri behind only Liverpool in the table for the “league phase” of the competition.
Therefore, Inter are in a strong position to qualify directly for the round of sixteen.
Then, the Nerazzurri will feel that they have proven that they can go toe-to-toe with anyone in the knockout rounds.
Inter have already drawn with Premier League giants Manchester City and beaten Arsenal.
Former Milan coach Sacchi commented that “The Nerazzurri are having a brilliant Champions League campaign.”
“My hat’s off to them!” the former Rossoneri coach said.
“Four wins, and a draw away to Manchester City in their opener.”
“And then, above all else, they haven’t conceded a goal yet,” Sacchi noted.
“Simone Inzaghi and his players are leading the way in the competition.”
And as far as upcoming matches against Bayer Leverkusen, Sparta Prague, and Monaco in the Champions League, Sacchi argued that “Inter have a chance to beat them.”
“They’re a tough team. They have experience, and a lot of technical quality.”
“I think they’re the most complete team in Serie A,” Sacchi argued.
“And they’re solid. They aren’t conceding goals. They know how to suffer and they’re more balanced than they were.”
“Congratulations to Inzaghi,” Sacchi said. “Congratulations to the players, and congratulations to the club”, he concluded.
