The 20-year-old left-back requires surgery on a foot injury
Lewis Hall has been ruled out of the rest of the season with a foot injury.
The left-back has been one of Newcastle’s most consistent performers this season and made his senior debut for England in November.
Hall sustained an injury during his side’s defeat to Liverpool and was subsequently absent as Newcastle were knocked out of the FA Cup by Brighton last weekend.
It has now been confirmed that the 20-year-old will require surgery, bringing a premature end to his campaign.
The club said in a statement: “Lewis Hall will miss the rest of the 2024/25 season after sustaining an injury to a bone in his foot.
“Following a scan and advice from a specialist, Lewis will undergo surgery before a period of rehabilitation with the club’s medical team.
“Wishing you all the very best for your surgery and recovery, Lewis.”
It is a major blow to Newcastle ahead of their Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on March 16.
Eddie Howe will also be without Anthony Gordon at Wembley, after the winger was shown a straight red card for shoving Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke's head.
There was a further injury scare when Alexander Isak limped off late in normal time against the Seagulls, but Howe was keen to play down those fears after the match.
“Alex just felt a bit of general tightness,” the Newcastle boss said.
“I don’t think it was an injury, it was just general tightness, but we felt as though he had to come off.”
