Liverpool’s coronation as Premier League champions may have been sealed already, but Sunday’s clash against Arsenal brings the opportunity for more celebration. While the actual trophy presentation is saved for the season’s final home fixture against Crystal Palace, this weekend’s return to Merseyside offers fans a another glimpse of their side after winning the league.
What was once hyped as a potential title decider now carries different weight. Liverpool, who fell to Chelsea last weekend following a heavily rotated lineup, are eyeing a response that underlines their dominance. A victory would push them 18 points clear of Arsenal—a stinging reminder of the gulf that’s grown between the two clubs over the course of the campaign.
Arsenal, meanwhile, arrive burdened with disappointment. Knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals, their European hangover could not come at a worse time. Qualification for next season’s tournament remains uncertain, and while performances on the road have improved under Mikel Arteta, Anfield remains one of the most intimidating assignments in world football.

Injuries add further complexity. Gabriel, Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu are likely absentees. Kai Havertz, still on the mend, may not return in time. “We have to regroup and go again,” Arteta said after their midweek exit—though regrouping against this Liverpool side is no simple ask.
Liverpool’s squad is nearly at full strength, with Joe Gomez the only long-term absentee. Manager Arne Slot—whose impact has been immediate and emphatic—may bring back several regular starters, including Andy Robertson, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai, following last weekend’s rotation at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool’s form at home is unrelenting. Arsenal’s resurgence under Arteta may have shifted perceptions, but Anfield with the Kop saluting a title-winning side—is not the stage for a slip-up. Despite showing growth in big-six away fixtures, Arsenal still appear a team in transition.
This match won’t decide silverware, but it might still serve as a statement. Liverpool to win, 3-1.
