Liverpool will hope to welcome Cody Gakpo back for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Southampton.
Gakpo missed Liverpool’s 1-0 win over PSG on Wednesday night, having injured himself while blocking a shot in training.
It remains to be seen if the Dutchman will be risked, however, with Liverpool strong favourites to beat Southampton anyway.
Diogo Jota joined Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz in the starting lineup at the Parc des Princes and looks favourite to stay there, although Darwin Nunez could offer some competition on that front.
Harvey Elliott scored the dramatic winner late on in the French capital but it would be a major shock to see him start ahead of Salah, even with next week’s Carabao Cup final against Newcastle at Wembley in mind.
Of Elliott’s performance, Slot said: “I can understand that he is sometimes frustrated by the playing time he gets because he is a good player, he showed at Liverpool already that he is a good player, but he is in competition for players that I hardly take off.
“So, Dominik Szoboszlai is always the one that just keeps on going, he also scores goals but he’s so important for us with all the running he does
Tyler Morton, Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley are all out for the hosts but head coach Arne Slot largely has a fully fit squad from which to choose.
Liverpool predicted XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz, Jota
Doubt: Gakpo
Injured: Morton, Gomez, Bradley
Time and date: 3pm GMT on Saturday 8 March, 2025
