The French champions bossed the Premier League leaders at the Parc des Princes in the first leg of their last-16 clash but ultimately came away with nothing.

Harvey Elliott’s late goal against the run of play secured a crucial win for Liverpool, teeing them up for a quarter-final berth should they successfully navigate the return leg at Anfield next week.

Still, PSG can take heart from their performance.

They amassed a stunning 27 shots on goal and were kept at bay only by a stunning performance from Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Alisson made nine saves in the French capital, keeping his side in the game so Elliott could strike late on.

While frustrated, Enrique was proud of his team’s performance.

“I think we deserved a different result - but football is like this,” he said.

“It is often a game of injustice.

“The goalkeeper was exceptional. Alisson decided which way the game went. Liverpool have never played like this this season. And it's not because they chose to. It's because we made them.

"But the details are Alisson made five amazing saves.

"We were very superior."
