Real Madrid take on Leganes at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on matchday 29 of La Liga on Saturday, March 29th, as they look to keep the pressure high on Barcelona in the title race. The Whites are currently second in the standings, three points behind their Catalan rivals, and can draw level with a win, at least temporarily before Hansi Flick’s side faces Girona on Sunday.
Carlo Ancelotti will have to orchestrate a win without the likes of Dani Carvajal, Dani Ceballos, Eder Militao and Ferland Mendy, who are all out injured. Thibaut Courtois is also going to miss the game due to muscular discomfort, while all eyes will be on Kylian Mbappe to add to his 20 La Liga strikes this season against the league’s 18th-ranked side.
Here is a look at how Los Merengues could line-up for the fixture.
Goalkeeper – Andriy Lunin
With Courtois ruled out, Lunin is set to deputise between the sticks.
Right Back – Lucas Vazquez
Vazquez could be employed at right back with Carvajal injured and Valverde likely to rest.
Centre Back – Raul Asencio
Raul Asencio might keep his play in the heart of the team’s back four.
Centre Back – Antonio Rudiger
Rudiger is expected to partner with Asencio in a defensive partnership that has started looking familiar lately.
Left Back – Fran Garcia
Fran Garcia is set to play as the left back with Mendy sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Defensive Midfielder – Aurelien Tchouameni
Tchouameni has been on top of his game for a number of weeks now and will be entrusted with a deeper-lying role in the Real Madrid midfield once again.
Right Midfielder – Jude Bellingham
Bellingham might play on the right side of midfield on paper although he will have the leeway to free roam around the pitch.
Left Midfielder – Eduardo Camavinga
Camavinga could have minutes from the word go with Ancelotti likely to rest Valverde.
Right Winger – Brahim Diaz
Rodrygo could rest after a lengthy trip to Brazil for international duty, thus seeing Brahim get handed another start.
Striker – Kylian Mbappe
Mbappe will look to pick up where he left off in the league last time out as he leads the line.
Left Winger – Vinicius Junior
Vinicius will feature on the left flank as he looks to pick up form in the most decisive span of the season.
