Manchester United may soon have to replace Bruno Fernandes who has been their best player this season.

The Portuguese midfielder is the club’s creative force and their leader who has been once agains outstanding for them this season, helping them reach the Europa League final.

Although their form in the Premier League is disappointing and they are on course to have their worst ever finish in the season, they could still end the season with silverware.

Fernandes has scored 19 goals and provided 19 assists for the Red Devils this season in all competitions.

According to Football Transfers, if Fernandes leaves the club to join Saudi side Al-Hilal, the Premier League giants would target a move for Athletic Club midfielder Oihan Sancet.

Ruben Amorim is reportedly a strong admirer of Athletic Bilbao’s attacking midfielder Sancet.

The Europa League finalists are understood to be keeping a close eye on the Spanish international as they assess options to strengthen their midfield for the upcoming season.

Sancet’s name has been frequently mentioned in internal discussions among Man United’s decision-makers.

The 25-year-old’s versatility and creative spark have made him a leading candidate for a potential move to Old Trafford.

United’s interest in Sancet is expected to gain momentum should Fernandes leave the club, either during the upcoming summer transfer window or in the January 2026 market.

The Portuguese midfielder has been linked with a move away, and his potential departure would accelerate United’s pursuit of Sancet as a direct replacement.

The midfielder has claimed that there is an €80million release clause in the contract of the midfielder.

The Red Devils would have to spend big money to sign him but if it comes to that, it should not be a problem for them since they would be making a huge amount from the potential sale of Fernandes.

Amorim’s side are looking for a new striker this summer and Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap is one of their top targets.
