AC Milan have tabled a formal bid to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on loan this month, a report has claimed.

Rashford is available for transfer this month but, given the high cost of a permanent sale, is attracting more loan interest from a number of sides across Europe.

The Athletic state Rashford's agents flew to Milan on Tuesday for negotiations with the Serie A side, and that was soon following by Gianluca Di Marzio's claim that Milan have tabled a formal offer.

Milan are said to have offered to take Rashford on an initial loan as part of a deal which would give them the option to sign him permanently at the end of the season - a format which United could be tempted by at the right price.

The main stumbling block in negotiations is Rashford's high wages, believed to be well over £300,000 per week. Such a figure is unattainable for Milan, who would need United to agree to cover a significant share as part of any agreement.

That is likely to be the case with other suitors, including Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, who are thought to be looking at a straight loan for Rashford without a permanent transfer clause.

Rashford may not be the only forward departing United this month as winger Antony is attracting his own loan interest. Greek outfit Olympiacos are reportedly willing to offer him a platform to reignite his stalling career, while Real Betis have been tipped to try sign the Brazilian after selling Assane Diao to Como.
