Manchester United and Manchester City are both reported to be tracking Sporting CP winger Francisco Trincao.

Both Manchester sides have strong influences from Sporting. United head coach Ruben Amorim spent four years in the dugout before moving to Old Trafford, while over at City, Hugo Viana will leave his role at the Lisbon club's sporting director to move to the blue half of Manchester in the summer.

Unsurprisingly, given Amorim and Viana's shared success with Sporting, the two clubs are expected to try sign a handful of talents from their former employers this summer. Striker Viktor Gyokeres is the obvious headline name, while United are known admirers of 17-year-old winger Geovany Quenda.

Now, A BOLA add Trincao's name to the mix, with both City and United said to have added the winger to their list of potential targets for the summer transfer window.

Trincao leads Sporting in assists this season and is second only to the prolific Gyokeres in the club's scoring charts, racking up ten and eight in 23 league games.

Sporting have voiced a desire to extend Trincao's contract, which currently expires in 2026, but they are under pressure to strike an agreement as both Amorim and Viana are expected to try and convince the 25-year-old to move to Manchester instead.

Any sale would also benefit Trincao's former employers Barcelona, who are believed to hold a sell-on clause of as much as 50%.

Only eight players have ever turned out under Amorim more than Trincao, whose 131 appearances under the boss are split across spells with Braga and Sporting.
