Ruben Amorim will be aiming to secure a second victory as Manchester United head coach when the Red Devils host Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.

After an underwhelming draw on his debut against Ipswich Town, Amorim oversaw a 3-2 victory over Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday night. A more cohesive display in Europe was spearheaded by Rasmus Hojlund, who scored twice and assisted in a much-needed win.

Man Utd have won their last five meetings with Everton despite long periods of disappointing form and are primed to make that six on the bounce this Sunday. The Toffees haven't won at Old Trafford since December 2013 when former Everton coach David Moyes was in the United dugout.

Sean Dyche's side have steadied themselves after a dismal start to the campaign but are still finding goals and victories difficult to earn. They have drawn blanks in their last three matches and have only managed two victories from 12 games in the Premier League.

United's injury concerns are starting to ease after a difficult start to the campaign, with even Tyrell Malacia making his return to action on Thursday night. The Dutchman hadn't featured since the 2022/23 campaign due to a persistent knee injury.

Luke Shaw played more minutes off the bench midweek, while Kobbie Mainoo could come into the lineup this weekend after being an unused substitute in the victory. Lisandro Martinez also featured for an hour as part of a back three after recent injury concerns.

However, Amorim is still seemingly without several defenders. Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Leny Yoro were all missing from the matchday squad against Bodo/Glimt, while Jonny Evans was also absent after missing recent training sessions. All four could be absent this weekend.

Dyche has a few sidelined for the trip to Manchester, including veteran right-back Seamus Coleman. The Irishman will be replaced by former United man Ashley Young, who was part of the last Red Devils side to win the Premier League title in 2012/13.

However, ex-United midfielder James Garner will miss out through a muscle injury, while Youssef Chermiti and Tim Iroegbunam are still sidelined. Armando Broja could make his first appearance for Everton this weekend as he recovers from an Achilles issue that has kept him out for the entirety of his loan spell thus far.

Jarrad Branthwaite, who received offers from United over the summer, will want to impress the Old Trafford crowd on a potential audition. He's helped shore up the Everton defence since returning from the treatment room in late October.

Everton have often proven tricky opposition for the Premier League's big boys since Dyche's arrival but the Toffees are dreadfully inconsistent. It's difficult to know what to expect from the Merseysiders, although they're unlikely to serve up much in the way of invention and attacking threat at Old Trafford.

United will take time to develop under Amorim and the Portuguese coach requires patience. However, a victory on Thursday could provide the perfect confidence boost for both the players and Old Trafford crowd ahead of Sunday's clash.

Providing United find a way to unlock Everton's low block, they should stroll to a relatively comfortable win.
