Manchester United are among the clubs said to be keeping tabs on Aaron Ramsdale.
The goalkeeper is expected to leave Southampton at the end of the season after the club’s relegation to the Championship, having joined from Arsenal for an upfront fee of £18m last summer.
Ramsdale has started in 24 Premier League matches, with Southampton already conceding 77 league goals this season, but there are still set to be plenty of clubs interesting in signing him.
According to The Sun, United are one of those, as they look to solve a goalkeeper headache that is proving increasingly problematic for Ruben Amorim.
Andre Onana was at fault for both goals in United’s 2-2 draw with Lyon last week and was subsequently dropped for the trip to Newcastle, but his replacement Altay Bayindir conceded four goals at St. James’ Park.
A summer rebuild is expected at United and a new goalkeeper is likely to be on the wishlist, while Ramsdale is keen to stay in England despite interest from abroad.
United are believed to have been watching the 26-year-old closely in recent weeks and believe his Premier League experience could be crucial in helping solve their issues at the back.
West Ham are also reportedly considering signing Ramsdale, with Graham Potter viewing the Englishman as a key part of his plans.
Ramsdale was first-choice at Arsenal for two seasons before he fell behind David Raya in the pecking order and then left the Gunners to secure more regular first-team football.
"If I was sitting on the bench, it [winning a trophy] wouldn’t have meant that much to me," Ramsdale said last year.
"I just wanted to play football. As a kid I wanted to play football to play, not to just sit on a bench.”
