Manchester United have received a major boost in their transfer pursuit of striker Victor Osimhen.
For months, Man United have been faced with a lack of firepower up top. With Rasmus Hojlund struggling to find the back of the net and Joshua Zirkzee playing on the wing due to the club’s injury woes, manager Ruben Amorim appears to be in dire need of an additional striker.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Osimhen is expected to reveal the next step in his career in April.
Yet, it appears as if the Nigerian striker is edging ever closer to making his next move known without even uttering a word.
Three days ago, The Peoples Person noted that Osimhen is reportedly keen on moving to Old Trafford even if Amorim’s side cannot secure Champions League football next season.
Now, it appears as if his parent club is making peace with this potential scenario.
CalcioMercato reported today that Napoli are interested in signing Fiorentina striker Moise Kean.
“In addition to the English interest, Napoli could also make an attempt for Kean in the summer, given that Lukaku is 32 years old and, if the Azzurri were to sell Osimhen outright, they could cash in on a nest egg that would be useful for launching the assault on the 2000-born player,” the report read.
The fact that Napoli appear ready to part ways with Osimhen in exchange for either Kean or Romelu Lukaku comes across as an encouraging sign for United, especially when combined with the player’s alleged interest in moving to Old Trafford.
After all, Osimhen’s desire could play into United’s hands, especially with Paris Saint-Germain sniffing around the player as well.
Of course, there’s no telling whether a swap deal involving Alejandro Garnacho could convince the Italian team to accelerate a deal for Osimhen.
At 26 years old, Osimhen has plenty of years left at the top of world football so long as he keeps up his impressive form, which includes a whopping 26 goals and five assists in just 31 games in all competitions this season (Transfermarkt).
This makes him an obvious choice should Amorim look to sign a proven goalscorer this summer.
