The January transfer window gives Ruben Amorim his first chance to start shaping Manchester United into a team that reflects his vision. However, the bigger changes are expected to happen next summer, with reports indicating that Amorim has his sights set on a key player from Paris Saint-Germain.
Manuel Ugarte, one of PSG’s summer signings, has already flourished under Amorim’s coaching, showcasing their strong bond. Now, rumors are circulating that Amorim is keen to bring Nuno Mendes, a player he previously worked with at Sporting Lisbon, to Old Trafford.
Nonetheless, Manchester United received a transfer blow in their pursuit of Mendes. According to a recent report from L’Équipe, the player has reassessed his future and now sees himself staying at PSG.
His representatives have even suggested that a contract extension could be on the cards. Luis Enrique played a key role in influencing this decision, leading Manchester United to end their interest in the player.

Manchester United are reportedly targeting Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rayan Ait-Nouri, who Transfermarkt values at €35 million, to address their left wing-back issues, according to The Independent.
Miguel Delaney’s report claims the 23-year-old Algeria international has caught the attention of the Old Trafford club, having impressed this season with Wolves.
Amorim is said to value Ait-Nouri’s versatility, as he can play as a left center-back, wing-back, or traditional left-back, making him an attractive option for INEOS officials.
Although described as ‘exceptional,’ Wolves are unlikely to sell their star player in the winter window, and Manchester United’s financial situation could make such a move difficult.
However, strengthening this area remains a priority before the transfer window closes on February 3rd, and a potential deal could be explored in the coming weeks.
