Mathys Tel informed Tottenham of his intention to remain at Bayern Munich | OneFootball

Bayern Munich centre-forward Mathys Tel (19) has informed Tottenham Hotspur of his intention to remain with the Bundesliga giants, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein. The North London-based club previously reached an agreement in principle with FC Bayern over a €60m winter move for the France U21 international. The latter indicated to Bayern he would be ready to move on in search of regular football at the highest level. Tel turned down the opportunity to join Ange Postecoglou’s squad as he intends to reassess his future in Germany.

Tel only featured 14 times in all competitions under the tutelage of Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany this season. The Stade Rennais youth graduate has mostly been used as a squad option with Harry Kane nailing the first-team spot upfront. Other Premier League sides the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Aston Villa were reportedly interested in acquiring the talented Frenchman. However, Tel told Tottenham of his wish to remain at Bayern Munich and reassess his future in the summer.
