February 3 marks a significant day in the history of Saudi Arabian football, when two years ago, Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal in the Roshn Saudi League.
Having made headlines around the world by signing for Al Nassr in late December 2022, the Portuguese superstar needed only two matches to get up and running in the RSL, when he converted a penalty three minutes into injury-time at Fateh to salvage a 2-2 draw. The point took Al Nassr joint top of the table.
And from there, as they say, the rest is history. In the very next match, Ronaldo scored all four in the 4-0 victory against Al Wehda, at the same time passing 500 league goals in his career.
He would go on finish his debut season with 14 goals in 16 RSL appearances. Then, in his first full campaign in the Kingdom, Ronaldo scored 35 times to set a competition record for goals in a single season. With that, he landed a first RSL golden boot.
And now? He perches proudly as the top scorer in the 2024-25 RSL, with 15 goals in 17 matches. The latest came on Thursday, when Ronaldo scored the opener in Al Nassr's 2-1 victory at Al Raed.
So, from the two years since his first, there’s been an incredible 64 goals in 64 league outings. The GOAT, a couple days out from his milestone 40th birthday, continues to deliver.
