Adi Hütter has confirmed that Folarin Balogun (23) will miss around four months’ worth of competition. The AS Monaco forward suffered a dislocated left shoulder during a match against Stade Rennais at the start of October. Initially, it was thought that Balogun would be out for two months, however, he returned at the end of November, coming off the bench against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League before starting against Olympique de Marseille just a few days later.
However, Balogun continued to feel discomfort, exacerbated by a duel with Marseille’s Leonardo Balerdi. As a result, the decision was taken last week to undergo surgery. Hütter announced the decision before Monaco’s loss to Arsenal. No return date was given but, speaking at a press conference, attended by Get French Football News, Hütter has now revealed that the former Arsenal forward is expected to be out for four months. He will undergo his operation tomorrow.
Providing a medical update ahead of Wednesday’s game against Paris Saint-Germain, Hütter said that Denis Zakaria has a chance of featuring. A decision will be taken on his participation on Tuesday. Christian Mawissa is out with a hamstring injury, whilst Krépin Diatta, Edan Diop, and Mamadou Coulibaly all remain out for the Principality club as they prepare to host PSG at the Parc des Princes.
