The new head coach of the Brazil national team, Carlo Ancelotti, is reportedly prepared to recall Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.

Earlier today, it was confirmed that Ancelotti will take over as the new boss of the Selecao, succeeding Dorival Junior, who was dismissed in March after 14 months in charge.

Ancelotti will part ways with La Liga giants Real Madrid after their final game of the top-flight campaign against Real Sociedad. Ancelotti had one year remaining on his contract with Madrid, but following a disappointing, trophyless season, it was mutually agreed that separating would be in the best interest of all parties involved.

The Italian coach will now take charge of Brazil’s 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, with the ultimate goal of leading the nation to a record-extending sixth title at the finals in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, one of Ancelotti’s first actions as head coach of Brazil is set to be the recall of Casemiro.

The United star has not featured for his country since last year, following his declining performances at Old Trafford.

However, in recent weeks, Casemiro has looked like a player reborn and seems to have rediscovered his best form. He has been crucial in United’s Europa League campaign, spearheading the comeback victory over Lyon in the quarter-final and then scoring in both legs against Athletic Bilbao in the semis.

Ruben Amorim has repeatedly spoken glowingly of the 33-year-old and it was even recently reported that he could be retained beyond the upcoming transfer window and possibly see out his career at United.

It appears there is more good news on the horizon for Casemiro, if Romano’s information is anything to go by.

The Italian journalist wrote on X, “Carlo Ancelotti has already made initial plans to discuss Casemiro’s return as part of Brazil squad.”

“The relationship has always been excellent and Carlo wants more leaders to be part of the squad, including Man United’s midfielder.”

The duo enjoyed a successful partnership at the Santiago Bernabeu, where they won some of the most prestigious honours in football.
