Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has dropped an injury update on two first-team stars ahead of the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur on the road tomorrow.

The Red Devils have made good progress since Amorim took charge last month and they recently registered a stunning 2-1 comeback win over Manchester City in the Premier League.

In the same game, midfielder Mason Mount was substituted early with yet another injury and the manager has confirmed that he won’t be available for the upcoming trip to north London.

Alongside him, Noussair Mazraoui picked up a knock against Pep Guardiola’s side. Amorim said that the Moroccan will be assessed ahead of the League Cup encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He told Manutd.com: :”Mason Mount is not available. He has an injury. Nous, we will see today. The rest of the squad are ready to play the game.

“We have to asses all the players and try not to get a lot of injuries. If we do that, we’ll be stronger in these kind of moments.”

United have had a mixed run of results under Amorim, but there have been more positives. The dramatic late derby win should instill plenty of confidence within the current group of players.

Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were dropped against City for tactical reasons and it is left to be seen whether the attacking pair will be reintegrated into the matchday squad.

Regardless of this, United should go into tomorrow’s Cup tie with a positive mindset. They are getting better attacking wise and could relish the challenge against Spurs on the road.

Spurs secured a 3-0 league win over the Red Devils at Old Trafford earlier this season, but the game was dictated by an unfortunate red card for Bruno Fernandes which was rescinded on appeal.
