Barcelona have announced the starting lineup for their final home game of the season as they take on Villarreal at Montjuic.
Heading into this game, there was much optimism that coach Hansi Flick might opt for an “all La Masia” starting eleven.
However, the German has opted for a generic starting eleven with minimal tweaks. As such, regulars such as Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal retain their place in the team.
As for the changes, Marc-Andre ter Stegen starts in goal ahead of Wojciech Szczesny, whereas Inigo Martinez replaces Andreas Christensen at centre-back.
Gavi and Fermin Lopez, meanwhile, reclaim their position in the starting eleven, at the expense of Frenkie de Jong and Dani Olmo, both of whom start on the bench.
In attack, Flick has opted for the traditional offensive trio of Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Lewandowski.
However, one would expect the Barcelona coach to make a string of changes as the game progresses.
The likes of Ansu Fati, Pablo Torre, and perhaps even Sergi Dominguez could be poised to make an appearance later in the game.
This could prove to be an emotional game for Fati, in particular, as this could be his final home game as a Barcelona player. This is because Barça are keen on getting rid of the explosive forward in the coming summer.
