With the international break set to kick off next week, Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has announced the squad list for their UEFA Nations League quarter-finals against the Netherlands.
And, Real Madrid youngster Raul Asencio has earned his first-ever call-up to the Spanish national team.
The 22-year-old centre-back is enjoying an excellent breakthrough season with Real Madrid, becoming a regular fixture in the starting lineup.
Asencio’s form, coupled with injuries to the likes of Aymeric Laporte and Dani Vivian, has opened the doors for him to be called up, although it remains to be seen whether he will be handed his debut by De la Fuente or not.
Asencio is the only Real Madrid player in the Spain squad, with Dani Carvajal out injured. Dani Ceballos, who had been in fine form over the past few weeks, also misses out through injury.
