Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has offered a further update on the recovery process of Oscar Bobb following last summer’s leg fracture and recent ankle problem.

The exciting Manchester City academy graduate has fully-recovered from a horror leg bone fracture sustained just days before the start of the ongoing Premier League season, and weeks after starring for the club during their pre-season tour of the United States.

Such were the impressive nature of the performances Stateside that many were tipping Bobb to be a regular feature in Pep Guardiola’s starting line-ups this season, however the injury forced the Norway international to remain sidelined for around five months.

And having returned to training, Oscar Bobb then sustained an ankle injury during the earlier days of February to keep him out of Manchester City training and matchday duties once more until the last few days.

Now, speaking during a press conference on Friday afternoon, the Manchester City manager told reporters that after a lengthy recovery process, there is “light at the end of the tunnel” for his versatile Norwegian youngster.

“He’s getting better, trained yesterday, and today as well. But he’s been [out] longer than we expect, but hopefully he can finish his part and can help us in the last part of the season,” Guardiola said.

The 54-year-old continued, “We want to help him desperately and of course, it’s a tough period for him. Always there is light at the end of the tunnel, always it has been like that in life, in sport especially.”

Pep Guardiola was also keen to insist that Erling Haaland is back fit and available having featured for the full 90 minutes against Tottenham on Wednesday night, following a recent knee problem sustained against Newcastle.

It remains to be seen whether either Oscar Bobb or Erling Haaland will be involved against Championship side Plymouth Argyle on Saturday evening, in an all-important FA Cup fifth round clash at the Etihad Stadium.

Bobb may be afforded time to sufficiently recover from injury frustrations and build match sharpness on the training ground before a reintegration, while City could hand Haaland some rest ahead of some mammoth Premier League matches until the end of the season.

The match could present an opportunity for Vitor Reis to start once again for the club, having featured during the fourth round tie at Leyton Orient alongside Ruben Dias at the heart of Manchester City’s defence.
