FC Barcelona were crowned Copa del Rey champions for the 2024/2025 season at Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville after defeating Real Madrid 3-2 after extra time in a match that had everything.
From stunning goals to controversial fouls to penalties not given – the game had it all as both teams fought tooth and nail but it was Barça who came out on top in the end despite Real Madrid’s best efforts to disrupt things both before and during the game.
Following Barcelona’s Copa del Rey success, former defender and club legend Gerard Pique took to X to send out a pointed message aimed at Real Madrid.
The Barça icon, never one to shy away from a fight, wrote: “In the end, the good guys always win.”
Pique’s message was seemingly a dig at Real Madrid and their tactics to pressure referees leading up to the game as well as the way they played at La Cartuja, getting away with some reckless fouls.
Meanwhile, Pique’s former teammate and manager, Xavi Hernandez also took to social media to celebrate Barcelona’s Copa del Rey triumph over Real Madrid.

Despite the manner of his dismissal from the managerial role last year, Xavi has not shied away from expressing his love and support for Barça and was elated after last night’s trophy win.
“Whatever they say, we are the best club in the world. Visca el Barça SEMPRE,” Xavi wrote on social media.
This is Barcelona’s second trophy of the season under Xavi’s successor, Hansi Flick, with the Catalans still in contention to win La Liga and the UEFA Champions League as well.
