Player Ratings: Rasmus Hojlund Strikes Late as Manchester United Salvage a Point at Bournemouth

Rasmus Hojlund’s late intervention salvaged a point for Manchester United in their Premier League clash at Bournemouth, but it did little to lift the mood as another season slips further away from expectations.
Manchester United began with a measure of control at the Vitality Stadium, fashioning the early opportunities. Yet, sloppiness crept into their game, and Bournemouth, quick and alert to any lapse, capitalised. Within moments of Adam Smith dispossessing Patrick Dorgu deep inside United’s half, Antoine Semenyo thumped home the opener.
The Red Devils faltered in the aftermath, unable to string together meaningful possession, although Alejandro Garnacho forced Kepa Arrizabalaga into a smart save with an inventive lob attempt.
United boss Ruben Amorim, who resisted wholesale changes ahead of their Europa League semi-final first leg on Thursday, saw his side struggle to maintain any real fluency. Bournemouth, meanwhile, pressed with vigour, creating a tense and uncomfortable afternoon for the visitors.

Bournemouth’s bright start to the second half hinted that a second goal might be coming. Dango Ouattara, lively throughout, posed a persistent threat down the flank. Yet the pivotal moment came when Evanilson was shown a red card after VAR intervention judged his challenge on Noussair Mazraoui harshly.
From that point, United grew into the contest, their pressure mounting as the clock ticked down. Mason Mount, Chido Obi-Martin, and Bruno Fernandes all came close, but it was Hojlund, so quiet for much of the afternoon, who made the decisive impact.
Deep into stoppage-time, and with Bournemouth bodies tiring, the ball broke kindly for Hojlund inside the box. His finish was instinctive, poking home to silence the Vitality Stadium and snatch a point for Manchester United.
As football so often reminds, moments define matches. Yet this result carries little meaning in the wider Premier League landscape for United. As things stand, they look set to watch Liverpool claim another title while they continue their search for identity under Amorim.
