We’re getting towards the end of the 2024-25 Premier League season.
All eyes are now on the race for the top five and there’s a big clash coming this weekend. In Sunday’s early kick-off, fourth-placed Newcastle United host fifth-placed Chelsea, with both sides knowing victory will boost their chances of Champions League football.
The other big game of the weekend is Liverpool hosting Arsenal at Anfield, though the Reds have already secured the title. Elsewhere, Bournemouth take on Aston Villa in a game that could have some impact on the wider European race.
We’ve taken a look at all 10 matches from gameweek 36 and offered our predicted scores.
Fulham vs Everton
This is a meeting between two sides in not very good form. Fulham have lost six of their past 10 games, which has seen them fall out of the top half of the table. Everton, meanwhile, have won just one of their past 10 league matches. But, six of those have been draws. And draws have been the story of Everton’s season, with 15 in total.
Ipswich Town have three more games left in the Premier League, and it’s looking as though they’re going to struggle. The Tractor Boys have lost 12 Premier League home games this season, winning just once at Portman Road. Brentford travel to Ipswich in good form, winning their past three as part of a five-match unbeaten run. The Bees will be sniffing around a European spot.
Manchester City are in a strong position to finish in the top five now, and that should be boosted when they face relegated Southampton. The Citizens have won their past four league games and are looking to do five in a row for the first time this season. Man City are also unbeaten in their past 29 Premier League matches against teams starting the day bottom of the table, winning 24. Southampton, on the other hand, have conceded 82 league goals this season.
Prediction: Southampton 0-4 Man City (8/1 with Casumo)
Wolverhampton Wanderers are pushing to finish as high as they can. Vitor Pereira’s men have won their past three home league games and are unbeaten in their past four at Molineux. Brighton and Hove Albion will be chasing European football, but they’re winless in their past three away matches, losing two. The Seagulls have also conceded at least two goals in each of their past three Premier League away games.
Aston Villa are on the outside of the top five race, but they still have a chance. They’ll need to beat Bournemouth to keep their hopes up, and the Villans are in good form. Unai Emery’s side have won seven of their past nine and they have a good record against Bournemouth. Villa are unbeaten in their past four league games against Bournemouth, winning two and drawing two. But Bournemouth are unbeaten in five in the league and have scored two goals in each of their past three home games against Villa.
Chelsea boosted their chances of a top five finish with their win over Liverpool last weekend, while a lot of their rivals dropped points. But they have a tough task on their hands this weekend. Newcastle did drop points last weekend, but they’ll be looking to make the most of home advantage. The Magpies have won their past five home league games, while Chelsea won just one of their past nine on the road. Newcastle have also won their past three home games against Chelsea across all competitions this season.
Manchester United are Europa League finalists, and they’ll want to build momentum ahead of the final in a few weeks. But the Red Devils haven’t been the most exciting side to watch at Old Trafford of late. Their past three home league games have seen a combined total of just three goals scored. The Red Devils are winless in their past six league games, but opponents West Ham United haven’t won in eight.
Prediction: Man Utd 1-1 West Ham (11/2 with Casumo)
Nottingham Forest are chasing Champions League football, and they’ll be hoping for a positive result against Leicester City in this East Midlands derby. Forest have won just one of their past five league games, which has seen them drop to sixth. Two of those defeats have come at the City Ground too. But Leicester have won just one of their last 18 away league games against Nottingham Forest, and are winless in their past six on the road this season.
Prediction: Nottingham Forest 2-0 Leicester (5/1 with Casumo)
Tottenham Hotspur are into the Europa League Final, and now they’ll be looking to build momentum. But their domestic form is still pretty poor. Ange Postecoglou’s side have won just one of their past nine Premier League games, drawing two and losing six. At the same time, Crystal Palace are winless in their past five league matches, with three draws and two defeats. Tottenham have also taken just 11 points from their 11 Premier League London derbies this season.
Liverpool have already been crowned Premier League champions, and this will be their chance to rub it in the faces of closest challengers Arsenal. The Reds did lose their first game as champions, but only two teams have lost their next two Premier League games in a season after already confirming the title. Arsenal are unbeaten in their last five Premier League games against Liverpool, but the Reds are unbeaten in their past 14 home games against the Gunners across all competitions. And Liverpool have also scored at least two goals in 15 of their 17 home league goals this season.
