Paris Saint-Germain are ready to take on Premier League clubs in the race to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
The French champions want to add to their attacking options in January and have been impressed by Cunha’s performances at Molineux.
Cunha scored one and created another as Wolves beat Manchester United on Boxing Day and has produced an impressive individual campaign despite the side’s struggles.
He has scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 18 league appearances this season, and ranks among the Premier League’s top players for goal involvements (5th), non-penalty goals (4th), shot-creating actions (10th), successful take-ons (5th) and fouls drawn (7th).
Arsenal and Manchester United are each considering approaches to sign the 25-year-old next month, though Spanish outlet Fichajes claim PSG are also preparing a bid. The Ligue 1 side are reportedly prepared to offer Wolves a fee of €80m (£66m) to sign the Brazil international.
PSG lost record scorer Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid in the summer and are looking to add greater goal threat to their side. Despite leading Ligue 1, the Parisians face a fight to reach the Champions League’s knockout rounds.
Wolves are reluctant to lose the player mid-season given his performances to date and will demand a huge fee for Cunha. The versatile forward has scored 24 goals in 55 games since signing from Atletico Madrid in a £44m club-record deal in 2023.
PSG are seeking to bolster their forward line with neither Goncalo Ramos or Randal Kolo Muani having convinced head coach Luis Enrique. The latter is free to leave the French side next month after struggling for form since his €80m arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt.
