Former Premier League star Clinton Morrison has suggested that Liverpool have shown they have it in them to be champions of Europe this season.

The Reds earned a big win away to Paris Saint-Germain this week, coming away with a hard-fought 1-0 win despite Luis Enrique’s side dominating in terms of possession and chances.

Morrison was impressed to see Liverpool show they can grind out a result like that when they’re not at their best, and he thinks they’re now one of the main Champions League favourites.

The pundit, who played for the likes of Crystal Palace and Birmingham City during his career, also feels Real Madrid are the other main favourite for the trophy.

On top of that, Morrison feels Arsenal and Bayern Munich could be two other clubs worth watching out for in this competition.

“That’s the sign of champions and a sign of quality when you’re not playing to your maximum, but you’re still managing to get results. And that’s when I say sometimes you need your big players and Alisson is a big player to step up,” Morrison told Freebets.com.

“To come away with a win like that, on crucial nights when other players are probably not getting any joy is the sign of a top quality team and credit must go to Arne Slot because obviously since going in there, he’s done a fantastic job, not only in the Premier League but also in the Champions League.

“Liverpool have a chance now. I know Real Madrid are still in it and Bayern Munich had a good result as well but there’s a lot of still top teams left in it, Arsenal too.

“You’d probably make Liverpool and Real Madrid favourites at the moment in the Champions League. But they’ve still got to overcome the second leg because PSG are still in it massively.”

Real have dominated the Champions League in recent years, including beating LFC in two finals in 2018 and 2022, so it won’t be easy to get past them this season.

Still, if anyone can do it it’s surely this near-unbeatable Arne Slot side.
