Celtic left Ibrox with a point but missed a glorious opportunity in the last few seconds of the seven added-on minuted when Daizen Maeda was clean through on goal…

A simple square pass to young Irish striker Johnny Kenny would have won it for the Champions…

The 1-1 draw was just about a fair result, with the game turning on its head just before the half-time whistle when Kelly saved from Adam Idah who was a big favourite to put Celtic in front. That resulted in a quick corner which was certainly threatening and with 30 seconds of Idah’s big miss theRangers broke quickly and Dessers beat Sinisalo after benefiting from a Liam Scales slip.

That kick-started a sectarian and racist hate-fest in the home stands, which passed by with not a word of criticism from anyone on Sky Sports.

Adam Idah made amends when Daizen Maeda’s persistence resulted in the ball breaking to Idah and this time he worked the space well to spin and get his shot away which ended in the back of theRangers net.

Sinisalo was busier clearing bottles and vapes thrown at him from the Copeland Road stand in the second half as Scotland’s shame reared its ugly head again.

Celtic remain 17 points clear of theRangers but will have to wait until next season before they get the chance to beat their city rivals in 2025.

Speaking to Sky Sports Celtic striker Adam Idah reckons he “could have had a couple today.” He is not wrong. The Celtic goalscorer added: “To get the goal in the second half was excellent, got us into the game and we played well, just couldn’t finish off more chances.”

Celtic captain Callum McGregor, also speaking on Sky, gave his thoughts shortly after the final whistle: “Happy with the point but we’ve got enough of the game to win it. A wee bit of disappointment coming out of it. It’s always tough coming here. We take our point, we’re happy with the performance.

“It wasn’t a great time to concede the opening goal but we were well in the game. As soon as you start moving the ball, we were getting massive spaces and more than we thought we would. Stay calm, get your opportunities and we took it.”

Asked about theRangers penalty claim for his collision with Ianis Hagi, the Celtic captain dismissed the desperate appeal from theRangers bench. “It’s probably a foul on me if anything. It’s not a foul to put your body in the way, he kicks me if anything so nah, no chance.”

Here’s Brendan Rodgers speaking to Sky Sports after today’s 1-1 draw at Ibrox.

And speaking to BBC Scotland Brendan Rodgers said: “The performance level was a good one. (the)Rangers changed their structure, we were playing against a diamond, so once we figured that out, we had lots of moments where we played through that pressure well.

“There weren’t too many chances either side. We had to be strong in some set-piece moments in the first half. At half-time, I still felt we were at a good place in the game.

“Second half, we controlled the game. When you come to Ibrox, you sometimes have 10-15 minutes where you’re under real pressure, backs to the wall, but I never really felt that.

“If I was to criticise, maybe our final third play didn’t lend us to creating opportunities. But our build-up was composed. We got the goal, we deserved it.”

Expect Paulo Bernardo to get some starts over the next few games.

It’s the PFA Scotland Player of the Year Awards tonight, where Daizen Maeda should be collecting the main honour.

Man of the Match today for me was Reo Hatate, such a clever player for Celtic.
