Rangers are ready to let Tom Lawrence leave amid interest from clubs including Burnley and Sheffield United.
Rangers are ready to let Tom Lawrence leave Ibrox ahead of the February 3rd deadline amid interest from several clubs including Sheffield United and Burnley.
The Welsh international joined the Glasgow outfit in the summer of 2022, but he has endured a tough time, with injuries meaning he has only made 56 appearances for the club so far.
With his deal expiring in the summer, there are major doubts about Lawrence’s future at Rangers, with reports claiming that Sheffield United, Burnley and Besiktas were among the clubs tracking the 31-year-old.
And, in a fresh development, journalist Darren Witcoop has revealed that Rangers are ready to sanction Lawrence’s departure, as he confirmed there are several clubs keen on doing a deal for the player.
“Tom Lawrence expected to move on from Glasgow Rangers before the window closes. A number of Championship and overseas clubs have made enquiries over the Welshman’s availability. Lawrence has suffered an injury-hit season at Ibrox.”
It’s unclear what sort of fee that Rangers would want for Lawrence, although it’s unlikely to be significant considering that he is set to leave on a free in a matter of months as it stands.
The former Derby man will be disappointed at how things have played out for him at Rangers, and he has had some terrible luck with injuries.
That’s not to say that his time with the club has been a failure, as he has played his part in some memorable moments over the years, but he would’ve hoped for more silverware during his time at the club.
Providing he can stay fit, Lawrence has proven himself in the Championship previously, so you can understand why some top clubs in the division are looking to bring him in.
He is a player who can score goals and create chances, and given his age and experience, Lawrence will be a valuable asset in the dressing room.
From Rangers’ perspective, with Lawrence unlikely to stick around, it would make sense to sell him in the next week, even for a small fee, as it’s better than losing him on a free. Plus, the attacking players at Phillipe Clement’s disposal means regular game time is unlikely for Lawrence.
