Blanco mentioned that the Alaves squad is feeling optimistic and motivated, especially as they are currently enjoying a good run of form. According to him, they are well-prepared for the battle ahead at the Santiago Bernabéu, and their goal is to return with three points.

“The truth is that we are going in with a lot of enthusiasm because we are coming into this game at a great moment,” he began saying.

“We are prepared to play a great game at the Santiago Bernabeu. Hopefully, we can break that streak and come back with the three points.”

He recognises that Real Madrid’s depth of talent and experience will make the match a tough one. Blanco spoke about the challenge of competing against a team that consistently wins and never gives up.

“Well, it’s Real Madrid. They will make things very difficult for us, they are one of the best teams in the world, with the best footballers.

“We know that it will be a difficult match, but we are in a pretty good moment, physically and mentally,” he added.

Impact of Toni Kroos’ retirement

When asked about the impact of Toni Kroos’ potential retirement, Blanco reflected on his time training and playing alongside the German midfielder.

He emphasised that Kroos’ quality has left a lasting impression, but also pointed out that Real Madrid have a wealth of talent, and they are unlikely to struggle without him.

“The truth is that I have been lucky enough to be able to train with Toni and play some games alongside him. The quality he transmits leaves a mark, that’s clear. But Real Madrid have great players and they will do well. That’s for sure.”

In response to a hypothetical question about removing a Real Madrid player, Blanco downplayed the importance of singling out one individual.

He noted that even if one player were absent, another equally capable player would step up, which is part of what makes Real Madrid so formidable.

“It doesn’t matter, because if the one I choose doesn’t play, another one will come out and I’m sure he’ll do very well.

“What we’ll try to do is stop them as a team, and .counteract as a block so that we can get something positive out of it,” he noted.

Thoughts on Vinicius Jr.

Blanco also recognised the depth of Real Madrid’s midfield, stating that they have numerous players who can adapt and perform in various roles, making them a constant threat.

“They have such good midfielders that it is an extra challenge for them. They are prepared to face those situations.

“These players are capable of that ‘box to box’. And I think that Madrid has so many, so many options that they can play in different ways, and they can always hurt you.”

When asked about Vinicius Jr., Blanco praised the Brazilian forward’s talent, acknowledging his ability to change the game instantly, as seen in recent matches.

While Vinicius might occasionally be affected by external distractions, Blanco believes that the player is aware of this and in a good position to improve. He considers Vinicius one of the best players in the world and expects him to continue making a significant impact.

“We know what Vinicius is like and the quality he has, we saw it against Espanyol. He came on and revolutionised the game because he is one of the best players in the world.

“We know that sometimes you can be distracted by what happens outside. He knows that this can be improved and I think he is in the best position to be able to improve,” he explained.

As Alaves head into this clash with Real Madrid, they are aware of the magnitude of the task ahead. Still, Antonio Blanco’s confidence and optimism highlight their belief that they can achieve something remarkable at the Santiago Bernabeu.
