Real Madrid have made it an absolute priority to sign Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold in the summer transfer window.

The England international’s contract with the Reds expires at the end of the season and the Merengues want to rope him in on a free transfer, with there being confidence within the club about closing the deal.

Jon Aramburu identified as Plan B

However, in case the Liverpool ace does not arrive, Real Madrid have set their sights on Real Sociedad defender Jon Aramburu as a serious alternative, reports Fichajes.

With Lucas Vazquez’s future far from certain and Dani Carvajal returning from an ACL injury, the signing of a new right-back is a priority for Real Madrid.

As mentioned above, Alexander-Arnold remains the absolute priority for the Spanish and European champions. But, Aramburu has emerged as an intriguing alternative.

The 22-year-old Venezuelan youngster has caught the attention of the club’s management due to his impressive performances in La Liga and, most notably, his versatility on the pitch.

While his natural role is at right-back, Aramburu has also proven effective in other positions across the backline. This flexibility makes him particularly appealing to Real Madrid, who are looking for dynamic solutions to reinforce their squad.

As such, Los Blancos are closely monitoring Aramburu’s development, though securing his transfer would not be straightforward given his release clause is set at around €60 million.

What has Aramburu said?

In a recent interview, Aramburu addressed the speculations linking him with Real Madrid, stating that while the links motivate him, his focus remains on succeeding at Real Sociedad.

“It is something that motivates me,” the full-back admitted, but he added that he must “stay away from the speculation.”

“My focus should not be on whether people on Twitter say that Madrid wants me, but on playing for Real Sociedad, my club, where I am happy and where I need to keep performing well,” the young defender clarified.
