Over the past few months, there has been constant speculation about the future of Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
With the team going through some ups and downs, the Italian tactician has been criticised and his future beyond this season questioned.
Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen has even been touted as the favourite candidate to take over from Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, according to MARCA, so far there have been no formal proposals or offers sent to Alonso by Real Madrid.
In fact, at the moment, the Spanish and European champions remain fully focused on their current trajectory, with the club’s immediate goal being another UEFA Champions League triumph under Ancelotti.
Even though the recent slip-ups in La Liga have seen Barcelona creep ahead of them in the table, Real Madrid’s recent wins over Manchester City, in both legs, have shown that Ancelotti is turning things around again.

As such, there has been no approach made for Alonso at the moment, with his contract at Bayer Leverkusen running until 2026, much like that of Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, the report also states that Bayer Leverkusen remain unwavering in their belief that he will stay.
Having originally placed their trust in him, the executives at the Bundesliga outfit are confident that the Spanish tactician will continue to remain loyal to the project that he is building at the club – having turned them into title contenders.
After all, having won the Bundesliga title last season, Leverkusen remain in contention in the Champions League, where they face Bayern Munich in the Round of 16, and are currently second in the league, albeit trailing the Bavarians by a significant margin.
The German champions’ plan has always been to clarify the uncertainty surrounding Alonso’s future by March. And at this moment, with no offer from Real Madrid, there is confidence at Leverkusen he will stay beyond this season.
