It was an Endrick show that helped Real Madrid defeat Celta Vigo 5-2 in the Copa del Rey knockout fixture last night at Santiago Bernabeu.
Coming on in the 79th minute, the youngster saw the team concede two goals in eight minutes to bottle their lead but came up clutch in the second half of extra time to score a match-winning brace.
Needless to say, it was a statement performance from the new signing and a message to Carlo Ancelotti to utilise his quality more often.
Speaking to the media after his match-winning cameo, Endrick shared his excitement and joy over helping get the team over the line.
“The game was very hard because we were winning 2-0 and we conceded two goals. But this is Madrid, we always look to win until the end. We always fight. It’s been hard, but we scored the goals to win.”
On playing extra time after 90 tiring minutes of play, he said,
“It’s hard to play an extra time because we’re already playing a 90-minute game and putting in 30 more. We have to run more and do more. But we have scored three goals and very well.”
The youngster was then asked to speak about his special brace which he generously dedicated to Antonio Rudiger.
“I keep working every day and I dedicate these goals to Ridiger. He knows what we do together every day.”
“He never gives me a compliment and this for me is not bad. He is very good because he tells me what I have to do. He has been a great to me since I arrived. These two goals are for him,” he added on his connection with the defender.
Finally, he concluded by revealing what the goals meant to him, saying,
“The first goal is very important to me because it broke the deadlock. I like these games and this feeling. Now to train for the next game.”

Real Madrid captain Lucas Vazquez also faced the press and first spoke on how they unnecessarily complicated the game by sending it into extra-time.
“The goal was to move to the quarterfinals. It has been a game in which we have started well with two goals. Then we have complicated the game and took it to extra time.”
“In extra time, the team has shown its quality again, and we are leaving with a place in the quarters,” he added.
Revealing what changed in the second half of extra-time to help the team score thrice, he said: “At that moment we have found good transitions and good moments in attack. Endrick has been very good in the minutes he has come out. The win is important.”
Vazquez was then asked to speak on the high quality of goals scored by Los Blancos on the night.
“They demonstrate the quality of this team. There have been changes compared to the last game, the team has played a good role in almost the entire match,” he said.
“In the end, it seems that whoever comes out, the players perform,” he added on the team’s mentality.
Real Madrid had the home advantage on the night and the fans turned up in large numbers. Dedicating words to them, he said,
“Whenever we play in front of our fans it’s an extra plus. They always push us and help us. The communion between team and fans is very important for the entire season. I think we’re going to get great things,” he added.
Finally, he spoke about the hectic schedule which sees the team play once every three days, and revealed how difficult it was on their bodies.
“We have talked about it several times, the schedules are being a little difficult. We have played 90% or 80% of the games at 9:00 p.m. or 9:30 p.m., extra time, which is what it is.”
“And we play on Sunday at 4:15 p.m. I think we have very little time to recover. It’s what it touches, but I think we should take care of the rest, which is very important,” he added.
