Real Madrid star Antonio Rüdiger has taken to social media on Sunday, to speak out on his furious rant in the club’s defeat to Barcelona.

The name of defender Rüdiger has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines across all of Europe over the last 24 hours.

This comes after the German completely lost his cool, late in the finale of the Copa del Rey.

With his side trailing by three goals to two with just moments remaining in injury-time, Rüdiger exploded into life from the Real Madrid bench.

Nothing short of livid owing to a questionable decision made by the team of officials, the former Chelsea man went as far as to throw an object in the direction of referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea, amid a remarkable rant.

Rüdiger is expected to be facing up to a lengthy ban as a result.

With the dust having now settled on his side’s devastating defeat, the stopper himself has in turn moved to provide an insight into his actions.

Taking to his official Instagram account on Sunday, Rüdiger issued an apology, as follows:

‘”There’s definitely no excuse for my behaviour last night. I’m very sorry for that. We played a very good game from the second half on. After 111 minutes, I was not able to help my team anymore and before the final whistle I did a mistake. Sorry again to the referee and to everyone I have disappointed last night.”
