Real Madrid star Éder Militão is set to go under the knife this Tuesday, to repair his damaged ACL.

That’s according to Blancos insider Melchor Ruiz of COPE, who has this afternoon provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

Defender Militão, for his part, was of course condemned to another long-term spell on the sidelines earlier this month.

En route to Real’s 4-0 La Liga drubbing of Osasuna, the Brazilian international went to ground in evident distress, before being stretchered out of proceedings amid concerning scenes.

An ensuing round of medical tests then confirmed the worst – that Militão had suffered a 2nd ACL tear in the space of a little over a year.

The 26-year-old has spent the week since recuperating at home, ahead of a long and arduous journey back to full fitness.

And, as alluded to above, on Tuesday, Militão’s recovery, it is hoped, will take its first significant step forward.

As per Melchor Ruiz:

‘In principle, Éder Militão will be operated on tomorrow for the Complete Rupture of the Cruciate Ligament with involvement of the 2 Menisci of his Right Knee.’

The stopper is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
